Profile on Blackmores Institute symposium speaker Dr Treasure McGuire

Treasure McGuire is a senior lecturer in pharmacy at the University of Queensland’s School of Pharmacy and teaches in the Quality Use of Medicines stream to undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy students in infectious diseases, endocrinology, women's and men's health. She completed her Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Science (Pharmacology) and Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical and Hospital Pharmacy at UQ. She joined UQ in 1996 and in 2005, Treasure was awarded her PhD in the School of Population Health, UQ, on the topic of what motivates consumers to medicines information seek.  In her hospital role, Treasure is Assistant Director of Pharmacy (Practice & Development) at Mater Health Services, South Brisbane, where she manages the research, education and information portfolio. Blackmores Institute spoke with Treasure about life, complementary medicine and her work in the lead up to the inaugural symposium:
