Zeaxanthin speeds visual processing in healthy young people

Taking zeaxanthin - one of the most common carotenoid alcohols found in nature - as a supplement improves visual processing speed in young, healthy adults, according to recent research. The data, published in PLoS One this month, shows that  four months of supplementation with zeaxanthin (on its own as well as in combination with lutein and omega-3) resulted in significant improvements in reaction time by approximately ten percent compared to placebo.
