Vitamin D supplements in young children necessary year round for bone health

Vitamin D supplementation is necessary in young children to prevent deficiency and to regulate bone metabolism in early life, a Turkish study shows. The study, which included over 1000 children aged between one and three years of age, found that those who did not receive vitamin D-containing supplements had insufficient vitamin D levels and low levels of calcium and phosphorus.
