Vitamin D supplements could help reduce falls elderly

Older people given a monthly vitamin D supplement had 50 percent less falls than those in a control group, a recent US study shows. The researchers, writing in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, set out to evaluate the feasibility of delivering a vitamin D supplement through a Meals-on-Wheels (MOW) program to improve the clients' vitamin D levels and reduce falls.
