Universal iodine supplementation during pregnancy could offer huge cost savings

Australian and international experts are calling for all pregnant women to be given iodine supplements routinely, citing not only health concerns but long-term cost benefits. New modelling research published in the Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology journal shows even in mildly iodine deficient countries like the UK, could result in huge cost savings for health care systems and society.
