The calcium controversy

The issue of whether calcium supplementation contributes to an increased risk of adverse cardiovascular events has divided researchers and triggered concerns about the use of calcium supplements as a preventative measure against osteoporosis. Several papers published recently propose a link between calcium supplementation and an increased risk of adverse cardiovascular events. Consequently, some researchers have concluded that use of calcium needs to be reconsidered because of these risks.
