A high fat diet changes the gut microbe populations and the brain's ability to recognise fullness, a new study shows. According to the data, presented this month at the Annual Meeting of the Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior, a high-fat indulgence literally changes the populations of bacteria residing inside the gut and also alters the signaling to the brain so it no longer senses signals for fullness, which can cause overeating - a leading cause of obesity.
