Should general HCPs be recommending vitamin and antioxidant supps for cardiovascular disease

The current evidence for the use of vitamin and antioxidant supplements for cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention is inconsistent, making it confusing for general practitioners to know what to recommend to patients concerned about avoiding heart disease. ”The proposed value of antioxidant and multivitamin supplementation is that it may prevent, not cure, atherosclerosis and the arterial blockade that may lead to major CVD events,” says Blackmores Institute Contributing Medical Editor Dr Mark Donohoe.
