Probiotics promising in postnatal depression

Research from New Zealand may offer hope to women suffering post-partum anxiety or depression.

Women taking a probiotic supplement containing Lactobacillus rhamnosus HN001 [at a dose of 6 x 109 colony-forming units (CFU)] during pregnancy and post-partum had significantly lower depression and anxiety scores in the postpartum period.
