Omega 3 supplements improve insulin sensitivity in type 2 diabetes patients

People with type 2 diabetes who take omega 3 supplements have better insulin sensitivity due to a decrease in non-esterified free fatty acids, a new study suggests. Non-esterified ("free" or unsaturated) fatty acids (NEFAs) are the major component of triglycerides (the fat stores in the body), which consist of three fatty acids linked to a glycerol backbone.
