Multivitamin and mineral supplements play role in warding off bowel cancer

Vitamin and mineral supplements, particularly calcium, play a “beneficial role” in reducing bowel cancer risk, new data published this week online suggests. “Based on the generally consistent data from trials and prospective studies and the plausible mechanisms of calcium, we believe that the use of calcium supplements might be beneficial in colorectal cancer prevention”, the Dutch authors write in the International Journal of Cancer.
