Most mums not getting enough omega 3 for optimal infant development

More than three quarters of all mothers are not getting the recommended dose of omega 3 fatty acids vital for infant development during, and three months after, pregnancy, new research shows. The study, published in the journal Applied Physiology, Nutrition and Metabolism, found only 27 percent, during pregnancy, and 25 percent, at three months postpartum (breastfeeding), met the current European Union (EU) consensus recommendation for docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) intake.
