Media reports on essential fatty acids in heart disease data have negative skew

The results of two papers published online this month questioning the efficacy of essential fatty acids to decrease risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and whether consumption of trans fats is bad, have put current guidelines under the spotlight.  However, the media have only reported on the negative findings, omitting other important results from the two papers and ignoring positive evidence on omega-3s from multiple others.
