Low vitamin d in pregnancy can cause skull deformities in babies

Babies of mums who take little or no vitamin D supplements during their pregnancy have a higher risk of permanent abnormal head shape, New Zealand and Dutch research shows. The study authors found that insufficient vitamin D supplement intake during the last trimester of pregnancy and during offspring’s early infancy was linked to an increased risk of infant skull malformation.
