Higher vitamin d linked to better outcomes for bowel cancer patients

Patients undergoing surgical treatment for colorectal cancer who have a high postoperative plasma vitamin D level also have better clinical survival outcomes, new research shows. A team led by Malcolm Dunlop of the Medical Research Council Human Genetics Unit at the University of Edinburgh tested blood samples in around 1,600 patients who had undergone surgery for stages I-III colorectal cancer (also known as bowel cancer).
