High dose zinc can help shorten cold symptoms

High-dose zinc acetate lozenges can help shorten diverse symptoms associated with the common cold, a meta-analysis conducted by Australian and Finnish research suggests. The analysis by Harri Hemilä from Department of Public Health, University of Helsinki, Finland and Elizabeth Chalker from University of Sydney, Australia, included three randomised trials reporting on the effect of zinc on seven respiratory symptoms, and three systemic symptoms of the common cold.
