Health star food rating system gets green light

The controversial system for front-of-pack food labelling to denote the item's health rating has finally been rolled out. Assistant health minister Fiona Nash recently announced that a forum of Australian and New Zealand ministers responsible for food policy and regulation have agreed that the Health Star Rating (HSR) system should be implemented voluntarily over the next five years with a review of the progress of implementation after two years commencing on 27 June 2014.
