Garlic supplements during pregnancy lower risk of pre eclampsia

A recent study shows that taking garlic supplements during pregnancy lowers women’s risk of pre-eclampsia and reduces fasting blood glucose levels which, if high, can indicate diabetes. The authors, writing in the Journal of Maternal Fetal Neonatal Medicine, conclude that consumption of garlic for 9 weeks among pregnant women at risk for pre‐eclampsia leads to decreased high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs‐CRP) and increased glutathione (GSH).
