Elderly malnourished despite access to healthcare services

More than half of older adults in the United States who visit emergency departments are either malnourished or at risk for malnutrition, but not because of lack of access to health care, critical illness or dementia, new research shows, and the picture is similar in Australia. In addition, more than half of the malnourished patients had not previously been diagnosed, despite accessing health care services, according to the study authors.
