Curcumin gel treats gum disease

A gel containing curcumin rubbed onto the gums can treat severe gingivitis and periodontal disease, a small pilot study shows. This pilot study included 10 people with severe gingivitis who applied the oral gel containing curcuma longa extract for a period of 21 days and had their papillary bleeding index (PBI) assessed before and after treatment, along with a visual analogue scale.
