Antioxidant supplement reverses damage to eye blood flow

Taking a dietary supplement for two weeks almost completely restores retinal vessel blood flow in healthy people with artificially-induced oxidative stress to the eye - similar to that which occurs in acute macular degeneration, recent research shows. The study used a Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) model to create a decrease in retinal arterial diameter, red blood cell (RBC) velocity, and flow during 100 percent oxygen breathing and to assess the antioxidative capacity of a dietary supplement to reverse this effect.
