Low vitamin d levels linked to increased risks after noncardiac surgery

Death and serious complications after noncardiac surgery are more likely to occur in patients with vitamin D deficiency, a new study suggests. "Vitamin D concentrations were associated with a composite of in-hospital death, serious infections, and serious cardiovascular events," the researchers led by Dr Alparslan Turan of the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, noted.
