Vitamin D supplementation reduces lung disease flare ups by over 40 percent

Vitamin D supplements can reduce chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) lung disease flare-ups by over 40 percent in patients with a vitamin D deficiency,according to new research from Queen Mary University of London. “Our findings suggest that correction of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (vitamin D deficiency) in patients with COPD reduces the risk of moderate or severe exacerbation,” the study authors noted in the journal Lancet Respiratory Medicine.
