Omega 3 fatty acids protective after heart attack

Patients taking an omega-3 fatty acid supplement are almost 40 percent less likely to show a deterioration of heart function after a heart attack compared to patients taking a placebo, new US research shows. The promising results from the randomised-controlled trial are to be presented at the American College of Cardiology's 64th Annual Scientific Session in San Diego this weekend.
