Antioxidant supplements prevent exercise induced stress

Antioxidant supplements can help prevent exercise-induced stress in young female professional athletes by decreasing the body’s need to express heat shock proteins, a recent study suggests. Heat shock proteins (HSP) are a family of proteins that are produced by our cells in response to exposure to stressful conditions. They were first described in relation to heat shock, but are now known to also be expressed when experiencing other stressors including exposure to cold, UV light and during wound healing.
