Lesley Braun, Adjunct Professor, NICM (WSU), NCNM (SCU), presented this session at APP 2025 Australia, introducing the concept of healthy ageing by examining the primary drivers of ageing and age-related disease, including inflammation, oxidative stress, and the natural decline in endogenous compounds such as collagen, CoQ10 and carotenoids.
The presentation reviewed recent scientific evidence on the effects of specific nutrients on joint, bone, heart, skin and eye health, providing insights into evidence-based practice. It also showcased complementary ingredients that may enhance health outcomes, with a focus on targeted solutions for joint, bone, heart, skin and eye health.
A deep dive into the roles of HMB and UC-II and their significance in promoting health and wellbeing was also undertaken, equipping participants with practical knowledge to support healthy ageing through complementary medicine.
